Many Indigenous communities traditionally recognize that all beings are related and that animals and plants can be our teachers. Indeed, there is much that we can learn from the creatures that share the environment around us. Join ecologist and IAIS Educator Susan Scherf for a guided ecology hike, in which she will share information about the adaptations of Eastern Woodland birds and bugs, and discuss traditional ways that Indigenous inhabitants have interacted with the environment for thousands of years.

Please note: Participants are encouraged to bring binoculars, if they have them. Please dress appropriately for the weather and wear sturdy footwear. Portions of the hike will involve a steep section of trail. This is a moderate hike.

Space is limited, and pre-registration is encouraged. Please visit our website to register online. Questions? Please email events@iaismuseum.org or call (860) 868-0518.
