Cultures throughout the world have traditions and beliefs centered around the strawberry. In many Indigenous communities it is said that when wild strawberries ripen, they represent life and good health. As the first local berry to ripen, they also herald the arrival of summer. Join IAIS Educational Outreach Ambassador Darlene Kascak (Schaghticoke Tribal Nation) along with educator and ecologist Susan Scherf for a “two-eyed seeing” look at the gifts of the strawberry as you plant and learn how to care for a strawberry plug. Enjoy some light strawberry refreshments before getting your hands in the earth.
