Looking to expand your reading list and discuss a variety of issues and topics important to Native people? Please join our virtual book club, As They Speak: Native Voices in Today’s Literature. Based on a variety of topics and featuring a range of genres, all of the books we will be reading have been written by contemporary authors. This month, we’re reading Buffalo Hunter Hunter. In this work by acclaimed horror author Stephen Graham Jones (Blackfeet), a diary, written in 1912 by a Lutheran pastor is discovered within a wall. What it unveils is a slow massacre, a chain of events that go back to 217 Blackfeet dead in the snow. This story is told through transcribed interviews by a Blackfeet named Good Stab, who shares the narrative of his peculiar life over a series of confessional visits. Join the conversation, hosted by IAIS Staff on Zoom.
Please note: This is a work of horror that contains some vivid descriptions of violence. If this is not your genre, we hope you join us next month.
In order to have a more intimate conversation, space is limited. Please register online to receive the Zoom link. Questions? Please call (860) 868-0518 or email events@iaismuseum.org. This is a free event, but donations are appreciated. This event will NOT be recorded.
